Documenting Milestones from Pregnancy to Now
One of the greatest honors of being a portrait photographer is watching a family grow through my lens over the years. I first met the Greenwald family when they were expecting their third baby, capturing that beautiful anticipation during their maternity session. Since then, I’ve had the joy of documenting their family photos as the kids grow, change, and show off their big personalities. Our most recent sunset session together was nothing short of magic.
Bringing a Bold Artistic Vision to Life
When she reached out to book her session for her fourth pregnancy, she told me she had a specific, powerful vision in mind—and I immediately ran with it. She didn't want a standard, traditional studio portrait; she wanted something raw, artistic, and deeply connected to nature.
We adventured out to the incredible Boulder Falls on a random October day, using the dramatic shadows of the stone and the rushing canyon water to create a striking contrast against her silhouette. Seeing her bold ideas blend so perfectly with my deep, moody editing style was an absolute dream. This effortlessly became one of my absolute favorite sessions to share, because it proves that maternity portraits can be an empowering, breathtaking piece of art.
Embracing the Real, Playful Moments
When you have four kids in front of the camera, the secret to beautiful photos is letting go of perfection and embracing the beautiful chaos. The Greenwald kids are always full of energy, laughter, and authentic fun. During our sessions, instead of forcing everyone to stand perfectly still, we play games, tell jokes, and let the kids explore the trails. That is how we capture those genuine, crinkly-nosed laughs and real family connection that you just can't get from a stiff pose.
Creating a Consistent, Warm Gallery
Because we have worked together for so many milestones, the Greenwalds know exactly what to expect from their gallery experience. Their choice of wardrobe always complements my signature editing style beautifully—leaning into rich, warm tones and soft, natural textures that make every image look like a piece of art. Hand-polishing a gallery for a family that has been with me for so long feels like putting together pages of a storybook that they will cherish forever.
